Grand Lodge of Georgia - Free & Accepted Masons
Today we wish a very Happy Birthday to our Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother William F. Shepard! Brother Shepard continues to lead the Craft in Georgia with humility, kindness, and a servant’s heart under his theme, “Be Humble – Make a Difference.” His steady leadership, love for the Fraternity, and dedication to the brethren have inspired Masons across our great state. As Freemasons, we are reminded that the true measure of a man is found not in titles or honors, but in the quiet difference he makes in the lives of others. Brother Shepard exemplifies those principles every day through brotherly love, relief, and truth. Please join the Grand Lodge of Georgia in wishing MWB William F. Shepard a blessed birthday filled with joy, family, fellowship, and many more years of faithful service to the Craft. Happy Birthday, Grand Master! 🎉🎂🔷 ... See MoreSee Less

Grand Lodge of Georgia - Free & Accepted Masons
Grand Master William F. Shepard enjoyed a wonderful evening of fellowship during his visit with Dalton Lodge No. 105 and Eton Lodge No. 509 at Dalton Lodge. The brethren and guests were treated to a fantastic meal featuring ham, chicken, potatoes, green beans, cornbread, pintos, mac and cheese, rolls, banana pudding, and lime coconut cake. During the meeting, the Grand Master presented Eton Lodge No. 509 with the 7th District Traveling Gavel in recognition of their outstanding support and participation. A special moment of the evening was the recognition of three generations of the Laster family for their continued dedication to Freemasonry. Pictured from left to right are WB Jack Laster (grandfather), Brother Josh Laster (grandson), and WB Speedy Laster (son). Moments like these remind us that Masonry is more than an organization — it is a family tradition built on faith, fellowship, and service. Thank you to both lodges for the warm hospitality and for continuing to “Be Humble – Make a Difference.” ... See MoreSee Less

Grand Lodge of Georgia - Free & Accepted Masons
Saturday morning in Griffin, more than 70 men gathered for the 120th 6th Masonic District Convention, hosted by Hampton Lodge No. 70 at Meridian Sun Lodge No. 26.Most Worshipful Grand Master William F. Shepard was present for his Official Visitation, reminding us through both word and example that Masonry is about one simple idea: being humble and making a difference.Outgoing District Master Monte McDonald welcomed guests from across the area, as the morning focused on fellowship, learning, and the work being done beyond the lodge walls. One of the most meaningful moments came from Superintendent Chris Babcock, who shared how the Masonic Home of Georgia continues to provide a safe, stable home for children—and how local Masons are helping make that possible. The district also paused for a solemn and heartfelt moment, led by Ken Owens. As the names of Brothers who have passed since the last convention were read aloud, a chair draped in black cloth stood in the lodge—symbolizing those no longer with us, yet never absent from our hearts. It was a quiet reminder that while their seats may be empty, their presence is still felt, and their legacy lives on in the work we continue. The morning also included a well-deserved recognition of service. Tony Martin was presented the John S. Perry Award for his years of dedication to both Masonry and his community. To close the morning, Grand Master Shepard installed the new district leadership, who will carry that same spirit of service forward in the year ahead. At the end of the day, it wasn’t just about a meeting—it was about people coming together to support one another, care for their communities, and leave things better than they found them. ... Grand Master Bill Shepard had the honor of presententing gifts to the children of the late Grand Master of South Carolina, Tommy Watson.Brother Watson passed away on August 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and brotherly love that will not be forgotten. During this touching presentation, the Grand Master presented Bridget and Corey with gifts that had been thoughtfully prepared for their father. It was more than just a presentation—it was a reminder of what Freemasonry is all about. Even in loss, we stand together. We remember. We honor. And we take care of our own.A pretty special moment, indeed—one filled with love, respect, and the quiet strength of our fraternity. ...
