Grand Lodge of Georgia - Free & Accepted Masons
A truly memorable night of Masonry at ABBA Lodge No. 550 and Tifton Lodge. Grand Master William F. Shepard welcomed the brethren and was joined by several Grand Lodge officers, making the evening especially meaningful.Worshipful Brother JJ of Tifton Lodge shared a brief but powerful history of ABBA Lodge, which was chartered in 1909. True to that era, the Lodge remains exactly as it was — no electricity, no air conditioning, and no modern lighting. The meeting was conducted by the warm glow of oil lanterns and candlelight, offering a rare and moving glimpse into how our forefathers practiced Masonry more than a century ago.The meeting room from the historic ABBA Lodge is still used today by chartered lodges and continues to serve the Craft, allowing Masonry to live on in the very space where our predecessors once labored. The evening brought together brethren from near and far, with 17 Georgia lodges and 2 out-of-state lodges represented. We were pleased to have 3 District Deputies present, representing 3 Georgia districts, as well as visiting brethren from North Carolina and Alabama.Thank you to ABBA Lodge No. 550 and Tifton Lodge for the warm hospitality and for preserving this remarkable piece of Georgia Masonic history. Nights like this remind us that while lodges may go dark, Masonry never does. ... See MoreSee Less
